The Best Of Mini-Countries.

Some countries don’t even show up on a map. That’s how small they are. In this post, we’ll be showing you our five favorite tiny countries, so that one day, you’ll be able to visit a less-travelled, or at least very, very tiny country.

Vatican City, the smallest country in the world.

The Marshall Islands are a very off the beaten path destination, but that doesn’t mean no one goes there. It’s the world’s 7th smallest country, so if you’re on a mission to visit the smallest countries in the world, this would be one of them. Located about halfway between Hawaii and Australia in the Pacific Ocean, these islands are a tropical paradise.

If you love beaches, palm trees, and green water, this is the small country for you.

4. Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is a small, but very mountainous country in the middle of Austria and Switzerland in Europe. Only 62 square miles, Liechtenstein definitely counts as a small country. The country is known for its towering mountains, greenery, and the Rhine River, which is the river where it is located at.

If you like hiking and lots of nature, this is the tiny country for you.

3. Vatican City

Vatican City

Vatican City is the smallest country in the world, so we just couldn’t leave it out. But that’s not the only reason that we put this country in here. Vatican City is an amazing (but extremely tiny country). It’s known for its history, being sandwiched in Rome, and it’s also known for being the home of the Pope.

You should visit Vatican City if you love history, because it definitely has a lot of that.

2. Seychelles

Seychelles

Seychelles, a group of islands off the east coast of Africa comes in as our 2nd pick. The 9th smallest country in the world, but still consisting of over a 100 islands is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. It has some of the best beaches in Africa, and in the world. The water is crystal clear, and the beaches have some of the most fine sand you’ll ever see.

If you love beaches, clear water, but also a fantastic and interesting history, then Seychelles is for you.

Before we tell you our number one pick, here are two honorable mentions:

Monaco

Monaco

Being the 2nd smallest country in the world, we just couldn’t leave Monaco out. Monaco is known for being a super expensive destination, so if you’re looking for a luxury tiny country Monaco would be it. This brightly lit “country” is near Nice, France, and has a small coast on the Mediterranean Sea.

If you like a very vibrant and exciting (but also expensive) place, Monaco is a great choice.

Antigua and Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda, in the Caribbean, is known for its coral, beaches, rainforests, and fancy resorts. This country also has a pretty interesting history, and you can explore all the history museums in St. John’s, the capital. People love coming here because it’s a very great photo destination and it’s just really fun to go to because there’s lots of adventure but also relaxation there.

If you like exotic destinations, then Antigua and Barbuda is the tiny country for you.

and now for the Number 1 pick…

Andorra

Andorra

Andorra is a bit larger than the other small countries on here, but it is still a really small country (the 16th smallest in the world, to be exact). Andorra is located on the border of Spain and France, so it is completely landlocked.

This country is known for its mountains, skiing, and nature/wildlife. There are many interesting animals there, as well as trees and plants. The mountains are known as some of the most beautiful in the world, because of their greenery and their huge size.

Andorra is also a very historical country (it is between Spain and France, and both of them are very historical countries). Most of the historical museums in Andorra are located in the capital, Andorra La Vella.

If you like mountains, hiking, adventure, and history, then Andorra is for you.
