Don’t get me wrong, I loved Paris. But… there were a few expectations I had that weren’t fulfilled. So, today, I’ll be showing you what Paris is really like.
The Eiffel Tower
In pictures, the Eiffel Tower looks pretty amazing. To the eye… well, not so much. Despite hearing about how tall it was, I didn’t find it to be, but maybe it’s just me. Also, in pictures, the tower seems to have a slightly golden color to it, but seeing it, up close, it does not. To show you, I’m going to compare photos.

The Pastries
The pastries and baked goods in Paris were amazing, but for some reason, I never found them much different than from back home. They were just more expensive. Even in the highest rated bakeries, the only thing you leave with is a couple of average croissants and a lighter wallet. Again, maybe it’s just me, though.

The Fashion
Since pretty much everyone knows Paris to be one of the Fashion Capitals of the world, I expected to see fancy clothes left and right. Was that wrong of me? I don’t know.
Maybe it was, because except for the mannequins, no one seemed to be very fancy. Or maybe that’s just because everyone was a tourist…

The Overall Feeling of It
This is what most people expect of Paris: Winding roads, a shining tower, fashion in the air, and the smell of freshly baked croissants.
But, the only thing in the air was the pollution, and it, in fact, didn’t smell like croissants, but of smoke. Now, I’m not judging, since every big city, anywhere, smells like this, from New York to Tokyo, but still… no hot bread smell. I really wanted that.

So… maybe I didn’t get my full checklist finished for Paris, but I definitely got most of it. If you ever visit Paris, don’t expect what people tell you to expect, because that isn’t really true. But, the Paris you will experience will be amazing.
